Selectmen's Minutes - July 2, 1992

July 2, 1992 - Thursday      Present:  James Haggerty, Chair
                                                            Judith Murdoch
                                                           Robert Crowley
                                                            Robert Andrews
                                                            Joseph Frisoli

Mr. Haggerty announced there would be two issues at this meeting.  To accept resignations of five Conservation Com. members and to vote to appoint five new members.

Chairman read each letter of resignation separately.  Warren Ellis, Brian Gaffey, Tom McSweeney, Tom Smiley, and the most recent letter, from Elton Smith.  He asked if the Board wished to accept all five letters at once through a motion or to make 5 separate motions.  Mrs. Murdoch asked if any members wishes to pull back their names.  Mr. Gaffey spoke to reaffirm his resignation and stated it should stand.  Mr. McSweeney asked Mrs. Murdoch to repeat her request.  He also commented on the decision in regard to the swimming pool incident.  The point he was making was if every decision was going to be questioned then Mr. McSweeney did not wish to continue.  Some dialogue transpired concerning the questioning of decisions.  There was a motion made by Mr. Frisoli, 2nd Crowley to accept with regret the resignations of the above Conservation members to take effect July 2.  Vote was 4-1 (Mr. Andrews not in favor).

Mr. Haggerty stated there were 6 openings on the Conservation Commission and 5 applicants, 2 for 3 years and 4 for 1 year.  Mr. Andrews asked to table the action on appointments until the Board had a chance to review.  Mrs. Murdoch stated that she would hope that the new applicants might come to the Board on the 14th to be introduced if nothing else as she would like a chance to meet them.  Board recognized Mr. Young from the audience.  Mr. Young stated that he hoped the Board would postpone voting to give Town residents the opportunity the time to apply for the openings and to give the Board a better possible field to chose from.  Motion by Andrews, 2nd Murdoch to table the vote of Conservation applications until the 14th, 5-0 vote.

Motion by Andrews, 2nd Murdoch to adjourn, 5-0 vote.
